Hi Celine,
The Gorge is a super fun place to sail, is extremely beautiful, warm and windy for the most part in the summer. There are so many options of different spots that I will just give you a link to a site that explains it all. http://windsurf.mediaforte.com/gorge4.html
They also have competitions there, the Gorge Cup which is racing or the US Nationals there this year or freestyle events - all which you can check out at this link: http://www.vmgevents.com/index.html
Vancouver is a fantastic city, but not necessarily great for windsurfing. I did learn here and you can go windsurfing & kiting here all year but you just have to be on the ball with the weather forecasts. I still do lots of my training here. About 45 minutes drive away is Squamish, which in the summer (May-Sept) blows much the same as Lake Garda, Italy. This place is incredibly beautiful, generally really windy and although can be quite warm, has icy waters. http://www.squamishwindsports.com/gallery/gallery.htm
